I know that I have reached a certain level with my professional identity because, just as we all ask our tech friends for help with our computers and our lawyer friends for free legal advice, my friends are starting to ask me for help with their writing projects.  A good friend from high school, a history graduate student, just sent me a paper she’s submitted to a journal for publication.  The reviewers suggested she condense a few sections, and she asked if I could help her come up with a graceful way to do that and think of a snappier title.  Another friend asked me recently to review the copy for his business Web site.  I am more than happy to help my friends out in this way, and I think it’s cool that they’re calling on me for such help.

Free Bear Hugs!

Yielding Sun, Stinging Wind

Tom Skilling’s 7-Day Forecast reads to me like a book about love and mystery. I love it.

“Wednesday: 26/17. Though the chill eases a bit in the afternoon, highs remain 7 degrees below normal. Initial sunshine yields to clouding. A new spell of light snow begins at night.

Friday: 23/-3. Snow likely with some accumulation possible before gusty NW winds produce falling temps late in the day. Bitterly cold arctic air takes hold at night. Sub-zero low temps.

Sunday: 8/-7. Bitterly cold! Single digit highs versus low 70s at gametime in Miami. Generous sun but stinging NW winds. Lake snow Indiana/Michigan snowbelt.”
